Time: 10 am – 2:30 pm
Location: 250 Rossmore Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004
On Saturday, February 24th from 10:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M., Marlborough School will be hosting the 5th Annual Los Angeles Girl Up Leadership Summit. Girl Up is a for girls, by girls campaign of the United Nations Foundation that advocates and fundraises for underprivileged girls who don’t have access to education, live in unsafe environments in which their health and safety are threatened, and are often not registered at birth.
We expect 200 students from all across Southern California to attend, and we would like to invite you to join us at this exciting event. At the summit, attendees will hear from inspiring speakers, attend informative and engaging workshops, advocate for bills in Congress that pertain to Girl Up’s mission, and learn essential leadership skills. This year, speakers include Dee Dee Myers (the first female White House Press Secretary), Yael Aflalo (founder and CEO of Reformation), Amanda De Cadenet (CEO of #girlgaze, a foundation and digital media company dedicated to highlighting and funding female Gen Z photographers and directors, and host of the Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet), Abbey Hudson (one of the leading lawyers for the federal constitutional challenge to California’s ban on same-sex marriage, Proposition 8), Bailey Leuschen (program officer at Girl Up), and others.
Girl Up is a great campaign to become involved with that does very impactful work, and the summit is an excellent leadership opportunity! It is $20 to attend, which includes lunch, and all of the proceeds will go to Girl Up. All teens and college students are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please direct them to Sophia Danielpour, president of the Los Angeles Girl Up Coalition, at firstname.lastname@example.org. This will be a great event, and we hope that you can attend!
